Domestic Violence Advocacy

Della Gill / Joyce H. Williams Center provides much more than just a shelter. In fact, some clients never even enter our shelter, yet we’re able to assist them in other ways through our outreach efforts.

24 Hr. Crisis Line

If you are in immediate danger please call 911. To speak to a Friends of Yates representative please call 913.321.0951.

Emergency Shelter

In an emergency, survivors and their families turn to us for help—and we stand ready to provide shelter and support—free of charge. The Della Gill/Joyce H. Williams Center helps domestic violence survivors by providing safe shelter, hot meals, essential personal care items, and emotional support in additional to programs and advocacy services. Staff often meets one-on-one with survivors to develop individual safety plans and identify available resources to help survivors to become self-sufficient and economically independent.

Court Advocacy

Navigating the legal system can be overwhelming for survivors who have undergone a great deal of physical & emotional trauma. We are available to help by accompanying clients to court, helping them to complete paperwork for Temporary Protective Orders, or following up with them until the process is complete.

Support Groups & Counseling

Finding strength among others who have been on a similar journey is often a great tool for victims to begin rebuilding their lives. Support groups are available for men, women, children and teens, throughout our 10-county service area. Individual counseling is also available.
